Mustangs Football Unveils Full Coaching Staff for 2026 Season

Owings Mills, Md. (May 15) – The Stevenson football program and first-year Head Coach Josh Hoeg announced the final coaching staff for the team's 2026 campaign. The coaching additions include Ken Emmons, Jadin Davis, Nick White, and George Coles, while retaining Cory Pietrzyk, Billy Gunther, and Chris Montanez.

Offensive Coordinator / Assistant Coach – Ken Emmons
Emmons brings extensive collegiate coaching experience to Stevenson with a proven track record of success at both Stevenson and Frostburg State. Most recently, he served at Frostburg State from 2024–2025 as pass game coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and recruiting coordinator, helping lead the program to a conference championship and an NCAA Division III Elite Eight appearance in 2025.

Prior to that, Emmons spent five seasons at Stevenson (2019–2024), where he coached wide receivers and coordinated special teams, developing multiple All-Conference players and leading nationally ranked return units. He also previously coached at Frostburg State as a graduate assistant and wide receivers coach, contributing to multiple conference championships and postseason runs. A former three-year starting quarterback and team captain at Frostburg, Emmons brings a strong offensive background, recruiting experience, and a history of player development to the Mustangs' staff.

Defensive Coordinator – Cory Pietrzyk
Now in his fifth year with the Mustangs' coaching staff, Pietrzyk brings an extensive defensive background to Stevenson. He currently serves as Defensive Coordinator, Punt and Field Goal Block Coordinator, and Video Coordinator, overseeing defensive game planning, scouting reports, practice organization, and play calling while helping lead one of the conference's top defensive units.

Since stepping into the coordinator role, Pietrzyk has coached multiple All-MAC selections and guided Stevenson to a MAC-Centennial Bowl appearance, with the defense ranking among the nation's leaders in red zone defense. Prior to returning to Stevenson, he spent five seasons at Johns Hopkins University, where he coached linebackers and defensive linemen while contributing to multiple conference championships, NCAA Tournament appearances, and a national semifinal run.

Defensive Backs Coach – Jadin Davis
Davis joins the Stevenson football staff in his first season, bringing a diverse coaching background with experience on both sides of the ball at the Division III level. Most recently, he served at Hampden-Sydney College as an assistant coach working with cornerbacks, special teams, and recruiting coordination, helping develop All-Conference and All-Region defensive backs while contributing to nationally ranked passing defense and special teams units.

Prior to that, Davis coached at Muhlenberg College, where he worked with both wide receivers and defensive backs, mentoring All-Conference and All-Region players and contributing to one of the nation's top-performing teams, including an Elite Eight appearance. Known for his strong recruiting ties across the Mid-Atlantic and detailed approach to player development, Davis adds versatility and energy to the staff.

Defensive Line Coach – Nick White
White joins Stevenson after serving as the defensive line coach at Quincy University, where he helped elevate production in sacks, tackles for loss, and turnovers while mentoring GLVC Defensive Player of the Year Jaylin Vaughn. Prior to Quincy, he spent a season at the University of Central Oklahoma, helping the Bronchos to an 11–2 record, a conference championship, and a top-ranked defensive unit that led the league in sacks and ranked second in forced fumbles.

A former standout defensive end at Gannon University and Monmouth University, White was a two-time All-American, multiple All-PSAC selection, and earned MVP honors at Gannon before concluding his playing career with Monmouth's Defensive "Lombardi" Award in 2023. He holds degrees from both Gannon and Monmouth and brings extensive recruiting experience across multiple regions.

Offensive Line Coach – George Coles
Coles enters his first season with Stevenson as offensive line coach, where he will focus on developing the Mustangs' front with an emphasis on technique, physicality, and cohesion in the trenches. He arrives after serving at The Catholic University of America, where he helped develop All-Conference offensive linemen and was part of a Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

He previously coached at Wilkes University, working with multiple offensive positions and mentoring award-winning skill players. Coles also brings early coaching experience from North Carolina at both the high school and middle school levels, including head coaching experience at West Hoke Middle School. A graduate of Ferrum College, he earned a degree in Liberal Arts with minors in Education, Psychology, and Sociology.

Offensive Quality Control / Volunteer Assistant – Billy Gunther
Gunther remains on the coaching staff after a standout playing career with the Mustangs, where he was a four-year starter on the offensive line and earned All-Conference honors twice while starting 41 consecutive games. During his playing career, he helped power a strong rushing attack and contributed to one of the program's most successful eras, including a 2016 MAC Championship, NCAA Division III Playoff appearance, and a final national ranking of No. 20.

He was also part of a 2014 ECAC Bowl victory and a 2013 unit that ranked second in the conference in fewest sacks allowed. Gunther later transitioned into coaching with Stevenson's running backs, helping guide a 9–2 season in 2015 and a bowl victory while mentoring record-setting rushing performances. He holds a degree in Criminal Justice from Stevenson and is currently pursuing his master's degree.

Running Backs Coach / Volunteer Assistant – Chris Montanez
Montanez serves as running backs coach at Stevenson University, where he has been instrumental in developing student-athletes on and off the field since 2020. He contributes heavily to recruiting efforts, particularly across Northern Virginia and the southern United States, while also focusing on academic support, mentorship, and community engagement initiatives.

Prior to Stevenson, Montanez spent several years coaching at the high school level in Virginia, including roles as offensive coordinator and running backs coach, where he built offensive systems and helped prepare players for collegiate success. A strong leader with extensive player development experience, Montanez brings a relationship-driven approach to the staff.

With a full coaching staff bringing a wide range of collegiate and developmental experience, the Mustangs now turn their attention to the 2026 season, with the schedule set to be released in July.
