Tankersley Nets Career-High Four Goals in Mustangs Win Over Lycoming

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson women's lacrosse senior Hana Tankersley netted a career-high four goals while the sophomore duo of Carly Bowes and Kiely Bunce combined for 11 points as the Mustangs extended their win streak to four games with a 22-16 MAC Commonwealth victory over Lycoming Wednesday evening at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs (5-6, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored a season-high 22 goals and improved to 6-0 all-time versus Lycoming since the series began in 2013. Stevenson has scored at least 13 goals in all six games while improving to 37-5 all-time in the MAC Commonwealth.

It took just 59 seconds for the hosts to find the back of the net as Bowes netted an unassisted goal after sophomore Sarah Roerty won the opening draw control. The two teams traded the next six goals before the Warriors (4-8, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) scored three straight to take its lone lead of the game at 5-4 with 15:54 remaining.

Trailing 7-6 with 7:39 remaining in the opening half, Stevenson scored seven of the final nine goals to take a 13-9 halftime lead. Freshman Lindsay Seipp scored a pair of goals while senior Jamie Bittner netted her fourth goal of the season, matching her career-high set as a sophomore. Seipp has recorded three consecutive multi-goal games and has seven goals in her last five games.

The hosts started the second half right where they left off in the first as Bunce scored just 17 seconds into the half after Bittner won the draw control. Bittner, Roerty and Bowes all recorded seven draw controls.

Stevenson strung together three straight goals as Bunce, Bowes and senior MaryKate White all scored unassisted goals to give the Mustangs an eight goal lead with 19:57 remaining in regulation. The teams then traded goals the rest of the way before Lycoming scored back-to-back goals to end the game, including the last goal with three seconds remaining.

Bunce finished with four goals and two assists while Bowes had four goals and one assist. Senior Dana Stevens finished with a career-high four points on two goals and two assists.

The Mustangs outshot the Warriors, 50-34 while going 4-for-10 on free-position shots. Sophomore Mack Ferguson totaled nine saves in net and held Lycoming, the sixth best free-position team in the country, to 2-for-9 from the eight-meter arc.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 14 when the Mustangs travel to face 13th-ranked Messiah in MAC Commonwealth action. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
