Seven Mustangs score as Women’s Lacrosse defeats Farmingdale State

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse team (4-5) defeated Farmingdale State, 14-2, on Tuesday afternoon.

Megan Greenwell opened the scoring for the Mustangs with a goal at the 11:10 mark of the first quarter. June Price followed less than five minutes later off an assist from Zoe Kaplan, before Ava Treakle made it a 3-0 game, finishing a play set up by Zoe McSharry.

In the second quarter, the Mustangs erupted for an eight-goal run. Kaplan opened the frame by finishing a pass from Greenwell and struck again just 30 seconds later. Price then found the back of the net at 11:20, followed by another goal from Greenwell. Alice Petersen extended the lead to 8-0 with 7:13 remaining and added another less than a minute later. Maddie Kline netted Stevenson's 10th goal around the six-minute mark, and Treakle added one more at 4:32 to give the Mustangs an 11-0 lead at halftime.

Price accounted for Stevenson's lone goal in the third quarter, while Farmingdale State got on the board at the 1:48 mark.

In the fourth, Price tallied her fourth goal of the game off the draw, as the Rams added their second. Lauren Caulden then recorded her first collegiate goal to cap the 14-2 victory.

Price and Treakle led the Mustangs with four points apiece, while Greenwell, Kaplan, and Petersen each added three. Defensively, Melina Primrose caused three turnovers, and Rachel McDonough added two. Regan Torbert, Anna Johnston, and Reilly Holstrom all saw time in goal for Stevenson.

The Mustangs will take the weekend off from contests to prepare for their next matchup, Neumann, on Wednesday, March 25. First draw is set for 4 p.m. in Mustang Stadium.
