Makayla Farace
Makayla Farace is a senior majoring in Elementary Education and is one of the first-ever Stevenson Feature Twirlers! She has been competitively twirling for the past 17 years!. Throughout her twirling journey she has won multiple state, regional, and national titles individually and as well as with her team The Dynamics. She also had the opportunity to attend multiple World Championships, including winning a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships in Twirling Corps with The Jazz Dolls. She is currently a coach for The Dynamics Dance Twirl Team, in which she is able to pass on my love and passion for baton twirling to the next generation of twirlers. Farace can't wait to represent the sport of baton twirling at school events during this year!
Katelyn Sypolt
Katelyn Sypolt is a sophomore majoring in criminal justice as well as one of the very first feature twirlers for Stevenson University. She started baton twirling when she was 9 years old, and has been competing for 10 years with Trilogy Twirl Club and the Dynamics Dance Twirl Team. Baton has housed so many memories which include earning various state, regional and national titles individually as well as with her competition teams. Currently, Sypolt coaches the next generation of baton twirlers with Trilogy Twirl Club in Calvert County, Md. She loves sharing her passion for baton with younger athletes in this sport and it makes me enthusiastic to be able to help them improve in and outside of the gym. "Being able to twirl at the collegiate level has given me the opportunity to perform and showcase my love for a very underrated sport. I am thrilled to continue this journey with my new Mustang family," noted Sypolt.
Gianna Romero
Gianna Romero is a freshman feature twirler majoring in Business Communication. She is an accomplished twirler, gymnast, and dancer. She began her twirling career at the age of 9 and has been a member of the World and National Champion Wheaton Dance/Twirl Teams. She was also a feature twirler for The John Carroll School Patriot Band. As a competitor, Gianna competes solo, strut, and multi-baton routines. She has consistently placed in the top 10 in her division and events. Gianna holds various state, regional, and national titles. She has been the national pageant winner, national solo and two-baton champion, and consistently placed top 7 at nationals. In 2022, she was named the Kozkoska Memorial High School Champion. She was a competitive gymnast with Harford Gymnastics and is currently a member of the Stevenson University Acro and Tumbling Team. She is also a classically trained dancer. She was a member of the John Carroll School College Preparatory Dance Program and lead and corps dancer in various Harford Dance Theatre productions. "I am so excited to be able to continue twirling at the collegiate level. I can't wait to perform on the Mustang field and cheer on my fellow classmates."
