Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Sophomore Molly Gonzalez scored a free-position goal 2:11 into overtime as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team erased a five-goal first half deficit to post a 13-12 MAC Commonwealth victory over Lycoming Wednesday evening at Mustang Stadium.

The Mustangs (5-7, 3-0 MAC Commonwealth) have posted 10-straight regular season league wins while remaining unbeaten in four all-time meetings versus Lycoming. It was also just the sixth time in 26 conference games that Stevenson has allowed more than 10 goals.

Led by five goals by Meghenn Jackson, the Warriors (10-2, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) built an 8-3 lead in the first half with the last goal coming with 3:04 remaining. Three of the goals by Lycoming were on free-position shots as the team finished 5-for-9.

Stevenson closed the half with three straight goals over the final 2:19, including back-to-back goals in a 19 second span by junior Brady Heher and senior Shelby Walter. Heher also scored on the free-position with 53 seconds remaining.

Senior Kellie McLaughlin scored the opening goal of the second half to cut the deficit to one, but the visitors went on a 3-1 run to extend the lead back to three.

The Mustangs rallied to tie the game at 11-11 with 1:12 remaining in regulation as senior Carli Bafford scored her lone goal of the game on an assist by Heher.

Lycoming reclaimed the lead just 14 seconds later as Jordan Lazarich scored her 47th goal of the season. But sophomore Hollie Larrimore finished a pass from McLaughlin to retie the game at 12-12 with 31 seconds remaining.

With the Warriors with possession in overtime, Walter came up with her fifth caused turnover of the game leading to the game-winner by Gonzalez. Walter also finished with six ground balls.

The Mustangs outshot Lycoming, 27-21 while the Warriors finished with 20 turnovers.

Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, April 16 when the Mustangs host a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Albright beginning at 1:00 p.m.
