No. 4 Mustangs Remain Unbeaten in CAC With 10-6 Win at Marymount (Va.)

Box Score

ARLINGTON, Va. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Nick Rossi (Lutherville, Md./Towson) tied a season-high with two goals and three points as the fourth-ranked Mustangs won their seventh-staight game extended their CAC winning streak to 18 with a 10-6 victory over Marymount (Va.) Wednesday.

Stevenson (12-2, 6-0 CAC) scored five consecutive goals, including two from freshman Stephen Banick (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic), to erase a 2-0 deficit midway through the first quarter.

Although the Mustangs would never trail again, they did have to have to fight off a determined Marymount (Va.) team that was looking for its third-straight victory in the CAC.

After Banick put Stevenson in front 5-2 with 5:57 remaining in the second quarter, Danny Carson scored back-to-back goals for the Saints (5-8, 2-5 CAC) just five seconds apart to pull them within one at halftime, 5-4.

The two teams would exchange goals to start the second half before the Mustangs scored four of the game's final five tallies, including two by senior Justin Lea (Elkridge, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) and the first career goal for junior defender Kyle Fendlay (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill).

Rossi totaled two goals and one assist while Banick and Lea had two goals each. Freshman Pat Candon (Long Beach, N.Y./Holy Trinity) had one goal and one assist.

Senior Doug Reidt (Towson, Md./Hereford) won 12-of-14 face-offs while junior Parker Bratton (Baltimore, Md./McDonogh) had three caused turnovers. Senior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) finished with a season-high 12 saves.

Carson led Marymount with three goals while Ross Fernandez had 12 saves.

Stevenson will put its winning streaks on the line Saturday when it hosts rival and No. 1-ranked Salisbury at Mustang Stadium beginning at 7:00 p.m.
