Curtis puts up seven goals, Men’s Lacrosse downs Hood

FREDERICK, Md. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (3-7 overall, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) defeated the Hood Blazers 21-2 on Friday evening. 

In the first quarter, played Wednesday before the game was suspended due to inclement weather, Hood struck first with a goal at the 11:06 mark. Stevenson answered with two goals to take the lead, as Max Racich finished a feed from Gavin Gossen with eight minutes remaining, followed by a goal from Hunter Bryant to give the Mustangs a 2-1 advantage heading into Friday's continuation.

Stevenson erupted for a 14-goal run before Hood found the back of the net again. The surge began with nine unanswered goals in the second quarter, with Giovanni Daddario, John Martin Vince, Camden Deming, Darrell Curtis, Racich, and Gossen all contributing during the stretch.

In the third quarter, Curtis added four more goals and Deming chipped in another as the Mustangs extended their lead to 16-1. Hood snapped the run with 1:32 remaining in the period, but Stevenson maintained a commanding 16-2 advantage.

In the final frame, Curtis scored twice more, while Seth Grossman, Gossen, and Vince each added a goal to secure the 21-2 victory.

Curtis paced the Mustangs with eight points on the night, while Gossen and Racich each tallied six. Connor Dunay dominated at the faceoff X, winning 18-of-24 attempts and collecting a team-high seven ground balls. Tyler Merchant earned the start in goal, recording six saves, while Kaden Snead also saw action in the win.

The Mustangs return home in preparation to host Widener on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Mustang Stadium.The contest will be sponsored by The Joint Chiropractic and will also include the Shield Team from the PLL/WLL promoting this summer's events in the Baltimore and D.C. area.
