Stevenson falls to No. 15 Washington and Lee on Day One of Callum Robinson Mustang Classic

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (1-5) fell to No. 15 Washington and Lee, 16-12, on Friday evening in day one of the 2026 Callum Robinson Mustang Classic.

The Generals opened the scoring at the 11:41 mark in the first quarter, but Alexander Wilson responded just 30 seconds later with a fast-break goal off the face-off. Hunter Bryant then gave Stevenson a 2-1 lead a minute later, finishing a play set up by Gavin Gossen. Washington and Lee answered with two goals to regain the advantage before Darrell Curtis tied the game at three with a goal off a pass from Max Racich to close the first quarter.

Curtis opened the second-quarter scoring with his second goal of the game off another Racich assist just over a minute into the frame. Washington and Lee responded with a man-up goal at 12:34 to even the score at 4-4. Gossen put the Mustangs back in front with a goal off a feed from John Martin Vince with just under 11 minutes remaining, but the Generals again tied the contest to make it 5-5.

Stevenson then used a three-goal run—two from Curtis and one from Gossen—to take an 8-5 lead with just under four minutes left in the half. Washington and Lee answered at the 3:02 mark, but Racich responded shortly after to restore the three-goal cushion. The Generals added one more goal with 29 seconds remaining to trim Stevenson's lead to 9-7 at halftime.

Washington and Lee took control in the third quarter, scoring seven goals in the period. Wilson and Gossen each added one for Stevenson during the stretch.

Bryant scored his second goal of the night at the 10:59 mark in the fourth quarter, but two additional goals from the Generals secured the 16-12 victory.

Curtis and Racich led the Mustangs with five points each, while Gossen recorded four points and Wilson added three. Tyler Merchant led Stevenson with five ground balls and made 15 saves in goal.

Stevenson will prepare to face No. 14 St. Lawrence on Saturday for day two of the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic. First face-off is slated for 8 p.m. in Mustang Stadium.
