Men’s Lacrosse dealt loss from No. 14 St. Lawrence

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (1-6) fell to the No. 14 St. Lawrence Saints 16-10 on Saturday night on the second day of the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic.

The Mustangs opened the game with a three-goal run, beginning just 17 seconds in as Max Racich found the back of the net off a pass from Brennan McKneely. Gavin Gossen followed at the 9:29 mark, finishing a play set up by Darrell Curtis, before Giovanni Daddario added an unassisted goal less than a minute later. The Saints halted the run at the 6:56 mark, but Gossen responded less than a minute later with Stevenson's fourth goal. St. Lawrence tallied again at the 3:28 mark before McKneely answered with the Mustangs' fifth goal. The Saints added one more with five seconds remaining in the quarter, but Stevenson held a 5-3 lead at the end of the first.

St. Lawrence responded in the second quarter with a seven-goal run to take a 10-5 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Saints opened with three more goals before Racich halted the run with 1:35 remaining. Curtis then followed with the Mustangs' seventh goal off a feed from Camden Deming, though St. Lawrence maintained a 13-7 advantage.

The Saints opened the final frame in similar fashion with another three-goal stretch, but Stevenson responded with three of its own. Deming recorded the eighth goal for the Mustangs at the 10:20 mark, and Peyton LaRocco finished a play from Alexander Wilson to add the ninth. Curtis later tallied Stevenson's tenth goal at 4:01, but despite the offensive effort, the Mustangs fell 16-10.

Curtis and Gossen led Stevenson with three points each, while Deming, McKneely, and Racich added two points apiece. Connor Dunay led the Mustangs with five ground balls, while Tyler Merchant recorded 16 saves in goal.

Stevenson now turns its attention to No. 5 Salisbury for a road contest next Saturday. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
