Team Effort Leads No. 3 Mustangs Past Mary Washington in CAC Opener

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winters Mill) totaled eight points, two shy of his career-high, on four goals and four assists to lead 11 different goal scorers as the No. 3-ranked Mustangs rolled Mary Washington 19-3 Wednesday at Caves Athletics Complex.

Stevenson (2-0, 1-0 CAC)had 14 different players register at least one point, including four who totaled their first career point and four who scored their first career goal.

Among those players scoring their first career goal was freshman Tony Rossi (Towson/Calvert Hall) who totaled a career-high four points after also adding three assists. An Under Armour High School All-American, he picked up his first career point with an assist in the win at No. 7 Haverford.

Senior Sean Calabrese (Rockville/DeMatha) also had four points, one shy of his career-high, with three goals and one assist while sophomore Tyler Reid (Clinton, Conn./Xavier) added a career-high three goals.

Sophomore Peter Green (Hereford/Hereford), freshman Dylan Zook (Purcellvlle, Va./Loudon Valley) and senior Zach Walsh (Reisterstown/Loyola Blakefield) each netted their first career goals while junior defenseman Brooks DiFiore (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) picked up his first career point with an assist.

The Mustangs scored the game's first 15 goals, including eight in the first quarter with the game-winner coming from senior Jake Stocksdale (Westminster/Winters Mill) just 4:27 into the contest.

Dailey had a hand in six of Stevenson's first 11 goals and four-straight over a span of 11 minutes at the end of the first quarter and start of the second. His previous career-high in points was 10 set against Mary Washington on Apr. 17, 2007 in the first round of the CAC Men's Lacrosse Championship when he tied the school record for assists with seven.

Junior Ian Bolland (Mountain Lakes, N.J./Mountain Lakes) made three saves and had two caused turnovers in picking up his fourth win as many career starts. Junior Ray Witte (Annapolis/St. Peter and Paul) won 9-of-12 face-offs and picked up seven ground balls.

Sophomore Kyle Fendlay (Westminster/Winters Mill) added three caused turnovers and three ground balls.

Paul Tunick led the Eagles (1-2, 0-1 CAC) with two goals while Mark Bowler and Josh Furnary each had one point.

Stevenson returns to action with a non-conference contest at home on Saturday versus Kean beginning at 1:00 p.m.
