OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's lacrosse junior Kyle Moffitt (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) scored a career-high six goals and junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson) became the school's career goals leader as the No. 2 Mustangs remained unbeaten with an 18-9 victory over No. 7 Roanoke Saturday at Caves Athletics Complex.

The win was the 26th-straight regular season victory for Stevenson (9-0) who has won four of its last six versus top-10 opponents. It was also the team's first win over Roanoke in the first meeting between the two since 2001.

Moffitt and Ford combined for 10 goals to outscore the Maroons by one while Ford's unassisted tally with 5:34 remaining in the second quarter was the 123rd of his career, moving him past Eric Schmith's record of 122 set from 1996-99.

In just 45 career games, Ford has totaled 183 points on 124 goals and 59 assists.

Meanwhile, Moffitt has totaled 15 of his 21 goals this season over the last four games while setting a new career-high twice.

After Roanoke (8-2) scored first just 49 seconds into the game, the Mustangs scored the next seven goals, including two each from Moffitt and Ford, to take a 7-1 lead they would never relinquish after the first quarter.

The Maroons opened the second quarter with four-straight goals to pull within two, but that would be as close as they would get following Ford's record breaker and the first goal in the last four games from senior Sean Calabrese (Rockville/DeMatha) that pushed the Stevenson lead back to four, 9-5.

Jeff Keating was the six different Maroon to score a goal in the first half with 2:31 left as he cut the Roanoke deficit to three at halftime.

The Mustangs outscored the Maroons 9-3 in the second half while senior Andrew Harrington (Cambridge/South Dorchester) totaled six of his career-high eight saves to earn his second career win.

Senior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) finished with four points on two goals and two assists and now has 199 shy for his career, just one shy of becoming only the second player in school history to score 200.

Junior Jimmy Dailey (Westminster/Winters Mill) added five points on two goals and three assists while junior Nick Rossi (Lutherville/Towson) had one goal and one assist in his first career start.

Ashton Hotchkiss and Trey Keeley each had three points to lead the Maroons who had seven different players with at least one goal and nine with at least one point. Jake Dorsey made 10 saves.

Stevenson travels to Hood on Wednesday. Game time is at 4:00 p.m.
