FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Stevenson men's lacrosse senior Steve Kazimer (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) had four goals and one assist while senior Andrew Harrington (Cambridge/South Dorchester) made five saves in his first career start as the No. 2 Mustangs opened CAC play with an 11-4 victory at Mary Washington Wednesday.

The win was the 25th-straight regular season victory for Stevenson (8-0, 1-0 CAC) and its 10th consecutive in the CAC.

With five points, Kazimer now has 195 for his career, five shy of becoming just the second player in school history to reach 200 and 64 from tying Eric Schmith's career record of 259 set from 1996-99.

Kazimer ranks second in both points and assists with 103 and needs just eight goals to become the third player in team history with 100. Junior Richie Ford (Baltimore/Towson), who was held without a point for the first time this season, is currently second with 120 goals, two short of Schmith's all-time record.

The Mustangs scored the game's first three goals, including three from junior Kyle Moffitt (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin East) who has totaled nine in his last three games, to take a 6-0 lead.

The Eagles (4-5, 0-1 CAC) were held scoreless for the game's first 24:52 until Harry Snyder scored the first of three-straight goals in the final 5:08 of the second quarter for Mary Washington to cut its deficit to three at the half.

However, Stevenson opened the second half with four consecutive goals, including three-straight third quarter tallies from Kazimer, to push the lead to seven, 10-3 with 7:20 remaining in the fourth.

The Mustangs outscored the Eagles 7-0 during the first and third quarters while both teams were even at 4-4 over the second and fourth.

Junior Ray Witte (Annapolis/St. Peter and Paul) won 17-of-18 face-offs to increase his success rate to 63.4 percent this season. The school record for a single season is 68.2 percent set by Scott Steers in 1998. Steers is also second at 66.1 percent in 1997 while current assistant coach Greg Furshman is third at 63.6 percent a year ago.

Snyder finished with three goals to lead Mary Washington while Matt Prin totaled a school record 29 saves after facing 60 shots.

Stevenson returns home to fhost a top-10 showdown with No. 7 Roanoke on Saturday at Caves Athletics Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m. It will mark the first meeting between the two schools since 2001 when the Maroons won 10-7 in Salem.
