Box Score DOVER, Del. - Angie Owens, the CAC leader in scoring at 16.8 points per game, totaled 18 points and 13 rebounds, both game-highs, to lead the Wesley women's basketball team to a 64-39 victory over Stevenson Tuesday night at Wentworth Gymnasium.
The loss was the seventh-straight for the Mustangs (0-7, 0-4 CAC) this season and their 15th overall. They have also dropped seven consecutive on the road and their last 12 conference contests.
Senior JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian) led Stevenson in scoring for the fourth game in-a-row and fifth time this season with 14 points. She leads the team this season at 13.7 points per game.
The Mustangs trailed by nine at halftime and by eight, 45-37 following a three-pointer by freshman Alissa Chambliss (Hanover/Meade) with 7:13 remaining.
However, the Wolverines (3-3, 2-1 CAC) finished the game on a 19-2 run en route to a 25-point victory. Owens accounted for six points and three rebounds during the run while the Mustangs went 1-for-6 from the floor, 0-for-2 from the free throw line and had five turnovers.
The leading scorer in Anne Arundel County as a senior at Meade High School, Chambliss made her first appearance of the season, totaling 17 minutes after battling through injury and illness. She was 3-of-6 from the field and added three rebounds.
Playing in her home state, freshman Lindsay Hsu (Newark, Del./DelCastle Technical) also made her first appearance of the season and totaled two rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes.
The debut of Chambliss and Hsu comes at a perfect time for the Mustangs who have lost junior Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) and sophomore Joy Bettis (Laurel/Montrose Christian) for the season due to knee injuries.
Senior Kristen Steiner (Forest Hill/Fallston) had three points, eight rebounds and six blocks while sophomore Rayshell Parker (Hanover/Meade) added five points and eight rebounds.
Owens led six different Wolverine scorers, all of whom had at least eight points. Allison Beddia had 10 points and seven rebounds while Jazmine Miller totaled 10 points and six rebounds.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, December 18 when the team travels to Catholic. Game time is at 5:30 p.m.
