Women's Basketball Tallies 31-Point Third Quarter to Defeat Salisbury, 84–80

Salisbury, Md. (December 3) - The Stevenson Mustangs delivered one of their strongest second-half performances of the season Wednesday night, storming back on the road to defeat Salisbury, 84–80, inside the Maggs Physical Activities Center.

Stevenson opened the night with energy, striking first as Nadia Ferguson finished a fast-break layup off a feed from Janiya Ennis. The Mustangs traded baskets with the Sea Gulls early, highlighted by a deep three from Ennis to keep things tight. Salisbury closed the first quarter with a late push to take a 19–16 lead.

In the second quarter, Kalea Wynter sparked the offense with a put-back and smooth mid-range jumper, while Ennis and Anaya Price continued attacking the lane. Despite the Mustangs' steady ball movement, Salisbury's long-range shooting allowed the Sea Gulls to extend their lead to 44–31 at halftime.

The third quarter flipped the script entirely. Stevenson erupted for 31 points, their highest-scoring frame of the season, behind relentless pace and clean execution. Price kick-started the rally with a pair of strong finishes, Wynter added multiple drives to the basket, and Ennis controlled the offense with precision. Tessa Boswell and Sanaa Thorne cleaned up the glass, creating extra possessions that kept the Mustangs rolling. By quarter's end, Stevenson had erased the deficit and surged in front.

Stevenson maintained control in the fourth, leaning on balanced scoring and timely shot-making. Price capped her night with a team-high 19 points, Richardson knocked down a key three to extend the lead, and the Mustangs' unselfish play continued with 23 assists on 32 made baskets. Salisbury made its push late, but Stevenson's composure and efficiency at the line helped seal the win.

Ennis finished with 13 points and eight assists, Richardson added 13 points off the bench, Boswell grabbed seven rebounds, and Wynter provided six points on efficient shooting. Stevenson's dominant third quarter proved to be the difference.

The Mustangs look to carry the momentum into their next match up at Washington and Lee University on Sunday, December 14 at 2:00 pm.
