Owings Mills, MD- The Mustangs hosted the
Quarter-Finals of the Capital Athletic Conference Championships
against Marymount. Villa beat Marymount one week ago with a score
of 14-3, and held Marymount once again at three goals for a final
today of 19-3. The Mustangs took 49 shots to their 23 and grabbed
47 groundballs to Marymount's 33. Villa also won 19 of 26
face-offs.
The Mustangs quickly tallied their first goal of the match at 14:42
from Steve Kazimer assisted by Greg
Furshman. Marymount retaliated with a goal of their own to
tie the score. Kazimer took the lead once again
for Villa, this time assisted by Shane Clift.
Furshman added to the gap with 1:56 remaining in
the quarter to bring the score to 3-1.
In the second quarter, Marymount took advantage of a man-up
opportunity and scored at the 12:44 mark. Kevin
Donnelly returned at 12:17 with an unassisted goal for the
Mustangs. He was followed by five additional Villa goals to end the
half with the Mustangs up 9-2.
Villa entered the third quarter and tallied four consecutive goals
before Marymount added their third and final goal of the game.
Richard Ford added one more for a third quarter
score of 14-3.
The Mustangs scored five unanswered goals in the final quarter to
overtake Marymount 19-3.
Scoring for the Mustangs were Ford with four goals
and two assists; Drew Brady with four goals;
Furshman with three goals and one assists;
Kazimer with three goals;
Donnelly with two goals and one assist;
Clift with one goal and one assist; and
Chris Baldwin with one goal.
The Mustangs move on to the Semi-Finals, which they will host on
Thursday, April 17. The time and opponent will be announced
