The Mustangs had an aggressive battle against Wesley to end a
two-game losing slump. The Mustangs came out with the 13-8
win to improve their overall record to 7-2 and 5-0 in the
CAC.
In the first period, the Mustangs took a 2-0 lead within the
first five minutes. Greg Furshman (Miami ,
FL / Towson University ) scored the first goal unassisted and
Zach Walsh (Reisterstown , MD / Loyola HS) scored
the second goal assisted by Jimmy Dailey
(Westminster , MD / Winter Mills HS). Wesley scored their
first goal at 9:41 to make the score 2-1. Villa's
Chris Baldwin (Baltimore , MD / Calvert Hall HS/
USNA) answered with a goal at 7:48 to give the Mustangs a 3-1
lead. Wesley came back and tied up the game, 3-3, by the end
of the period.
The second period was dominated by the Mustangs.
Matt Miller (Denver, CO/ George Washington HS/
Essex CC) scored two goals- one at 14:12 unassisted and the other
at 10:54 assisted by Andrew White (Cockeysville,
MD/ Loyola HS)- to make the score 5-3. White
went on to score at 8:03 and Dailey scored with
two minutes left in the period to give the Mustangs a four-goal
lead, 7-3, at halftime.
After halftime, both teams came out strong.
Walsh scored within seconds of the half to start
up the Mustangs and extend the lead to 8-3. Wesley's Jeff
Montgomery answered with a quick goal. The Mustangs shut down
the Wolverines for the rest of the period.
Dailey scored an unassisted goal at 10:52,
Baldwin scored at 9:23 with an assist by
Healey, Kevin Donnelly (Laurel,
MD/ St. Vincent Pallotti HS/ Greensboro) scored at 7:12 assisted by
Dailey, and White scored the last
goal of the period at 2:15 assisted by Mike
Gustowarow (Riva, MD/ Dematha HS) to make the score 12-4.
Wesley's Dan Skeels came out full-force in the fourth
period. He scored three goals against the Mustangs to make
the score 12-7. Baldwin stopped his scoring
run by putting one in the net at 5:36. Wesley's Nick Pisacano
scored the last goal of the day at 3:36 to close the gap to five,
13-8.
The Mustangs hit the road on Wednesday to York to take on the
Spartans at 3:30.
