Owings Mills, Md.- The Mustangs extend their
record to 5-0 (4-0) after defeating Goucher at home, 13-9.
Villa Julie began the scoring at 14:19 with an unassisted goal
by Zach Walsh (Reisterstown, MD / Loyola
HS). Goucher managed one goal in the first period by Dave
Duff assisted by Casey Hughes. The Mustangs continued to
score three more goals before the end of the period, 4-1.
Villa Julie quickly extended their lead to 8-1 in the second
period. Goucher made their second appearance on the score
board with 2:35 left in the period. Greg
Furshman (Miami, FL / Towson University) returned with a
goal only 11 seconds later. Goucher scored twice more before
the end of the half for a score of 9-4.
In the third period, the Mustangs scored two goals that were
immediately followed by two Goucher goals. Matt
Miller (Denver, CO / George Washington HS / Essex CC)
finished the third period with a goal assisted by Brandon
Hastings (Towson, MD / Calvert Hall HS / UMBC) for a score
of 12-6.
Goucher made the first move in the fourth period as they scored
three goals in a row. Jimmy Dailey
(Westminster, MD / Winter Mills HS) put a stop to their
scoring at 4:05 with an unassisted goal. The game concluded
with a final score of 13-9.
Matt Miller led the Mustangs with four goals,
while Jimmy Dailey added three, Zach
Walsh had two, and Andrew White
(Cockeysville, MD / Loyola HS), Greg Furshman,
Matt Healy (Harrisburg, PA / Harrisburg HS / Essex
CC), and Nicola Bevacqua (Booton Township, NJ /
Mt. Lakes HS) each had one goal. Defensively, goalie
Jason Woodford (Timonium, MD / Dulaney HS / Drew)
tallied 15 saves. Austin Hale (Baltimore, MD
/ Eastern HS) caused three Goucher turnovers, while Michael
Simon (Fallston, MD / Fallston HS) and Zach
Clark (Pasadena, MD / Chesapeake HS) each caused two
turnovers.
