Owings Mills, Md. – Stevenson Mustangs athletics and Athletic Director,
Jordan Hoover, announced the promotion of
Sara Ropski to Director of Athletic Communications, effective Monday, November 17. Ropski has been a valued member of the Mustang athletics staff since January 2023, bringing an exceptional blend of leadership, innovation, and service to the department.
Ropski first joined Stevenson as an Assistant Athletic Communications Director before being elevated to Associate Director in July 2025. In her time with the Mustangs, she has served as the primary communications contact for men's and women's beach volleyball, field hockey, women's soccer, men's and women's ice hockey, and men's and women's lacrosse, while helping with the rest of the Mustang's NCAA DIII 29 sports.
In addition to her sport responsibilities, Ropski has overseen all @GoMustangSports social media channels and digital strategy, coordinated communications coverage for club sports, and managed a team of over 60 student-employees and 13 interns. Her creative approach and collaborative leadership have strengthened Stevenson's brand presence and student engagement across campus and online.
Since arriving at Stevenson, Ropski has made a lasting impact through several key initiatives, including the creation of Mustang Monthly, a digital publication highlighting student-athletes and departmental initiatives, and by fostering stronger partnerships between Stevenson's Student Government Association (SGA) and Mustang student-athletes. She has also played a key role in the Campaign for Mustang Athletics and was selected to the inaugural NCAA Division III Emerging Elite Class in 2024, recognizing rising leaders in collegiate athletics communications.
In 2024, Ropski took a year-long military leave of absence while deployed on a combat tour to Somalia with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, demonstrating her continued dedication to service both on and off the field.
"We are thrilled to elevate
Sara Ropski into the Director of Communications position, and to welcome her to our senior leadership team." said Hoover. "Sara's proven track record of managing a complex athletic communications operation and her commitment to not only tell the story of Stevenson Athletics, but to enhance it, was clear very early on in the search process. Her leadership, organization, and passion for growing our athletic brand and student-athlete story telling fit perfectly with our vision of Mustang Athletics, and I am incredibly excited to have her work alongside us to help push the new era of Stevenson Athletics forward."
Before joining Stevenson, Ropski spent a year at Lebanon Valley College as the Associate Director of Athletic Communications and Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach. She served as the primary contact for several teams, including soccer, volleyball, ice hockey, and lacrosse, while also working as the Dutchmen's goalie coach. Prior to her time at LVC, she served full-time with the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, culminating as the Awards Non commissioned Officer In-Charge at the state's Joint Force Headquarters.
A native of Pennsylvania, Ropski earned her bachelor's degree in communications and digital media from Neumann University in 2020. At Neumann, she was a three-year member of the women's lacrosse team and worked in the sports information department, primarily assisting with soccer, field hockey, and ice hockey. Her contributions earned her the East-COMM Bill Esposito Memorial Award and Neumann Athletics MVP Award, recognizing her dedication to the field of athletic communications.
She later earned her master's degree in strategic communications from Liberty University while serving on active duty.
Currently, Ropski holds the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, where she serves as a Signal Operations Non-commissioned Officer with the 28th Infantry Division.
"I want to extend my sincere gratitude to
Jordan Hoover,
Matthew Grimm, Jackie Boswell, and the entire search committee for their dedication and for trusting me with this incredible opportunity at Stevenson University." Said Sara. "Stevenson is a truly special place—defined by innovation, community, and a bold vision for the future—and I'm thrilled to continue pushing boundaries and contributing to that mission. From our coaches and administrators to our student-athletes, the energy and passion across campus are unmatched. I'm excited to keep building on that spirit and enhancing the overall experience for everyone who wears the Mustang green."
Stevenson University congratulates Sara on this well-deserved promotion and looks forward to her continued leadership and contributions to Mustang Athletics.
