Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The trio of senior Meaghan Williams, sophomore Alexis Siejack and freshman Isabella Ekeze all totaled two goals as the Stevenson women's soccer team defeated William Paterson 7-2 Saturday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (2-0) has now totaled 13 goals in its first two games and is unbeaten in its last six home games dating back to last season. The team is 20-9-7 in four seasons at Mustang Stadium.
Stevenson got things going early as junior Jordan Porretto sent a through ball from just inside midfield for Siejack to run onto and send into the back of the net. It was Porretto's first career assist.
Siejack then doubled Stevenson's lead after she collected a rebound off Porretto's shot in the 14th minute. It was the 20th career goal for Siejack which ranks tied for eighth all-time along with senior Jamie Matlock. In 26 career games, Siejack has tallied at least one point in 17 of those games.
The Pioneers (0-1-1) cut the lead to one after a corner kick by Gina Cowdrick hit off the head of a Stevenson defender. By rule, Cowdrick is credited with the shot and the goal.
Ekeze tallied her second career goal in as many days as she put the ball low to the far right corner on an assist from classmate Kailee Ziegler in the 34th minute. The assist is the first career point for Ziegler.
In just her second career game, freshman Kellen Wittman has now tallied six career points after scoring a first half goal on an assist from junior Taylor Venturino. Wittman received a header from Venturino before beating the keeper one on one.
The Mustangs picked up in the second half right where they left in the first with Williams scoring three minutes into the half, for the first of three Stevenson goals in a four minute span. Porretto tallied her second assist of the day.
Freshman Taylor Ervin picked up her first career point as she tallied an assist on Ekeze's second goal of the game. Williams then collected the ball off a William Paterson goal kick and beat the keeper for her second of the day. It was Williams' second career multi-goal game.
William Paterson's Rachel Rivell scored her first goal of the season in the 80th minute after Julia Siersema flicked a header into the box.
In two games this season, Stevenson has held its opponents to just 10 shots. The Mustangs outshot the Pioneers 19-9, including 13-2 in the first half.
Freshman Stephanie Ehly got her first career start in goal and totaled one save before giving way to classmate Katelynn Giannacini in the second half. Giannacini totaled three saves.
Kat Clint totaled seven saves in goal for the Pioneers.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, September 3 when they travel to Dickinson for a non-conference contest beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Mustangs are 1-1 all-time against the Red Devils, including a 1-0 victory last season.
