Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Second half goals by Stevenson women's soccer junior Kaylie Yapps (Joppa, Md./Fallston) and freshman Alexis Siejack (Baltimore, Md./Catholic) gave the Mustangs a 2-1 victory over William Paterson in the Stevenson Classic Sunday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
The Mustangs (4-1), ranked fourth in the NSCAA Mid-Atlantic Region, have only allowed two goals this season, outscoring its opponents 9-2.
For the second straight game, a Stevenson defender made a goal-line save as senior Alexa Narron (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) saved a shot off a corner kick. But Sheray Anderson was there for the rebound to give the Pioneers the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, freshman Annie McCoach (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale) made her lone save of the game on a breakaway shot by the Pioneers (1-2-1) to keep the deficit at one.
The Mustangs had multiple oppotunities in the game as they outshot William Paterson 20-7, including 11-2 in the second half.
On the nineteenth shot of the game, Yapps scored her first goal of the season and second of her career on a header off a free kick from senior Shannon McGuire (Darnestown, Md./Northwest) to tie the game at 1-1 with 15:14 remaining in the game.
Siejack scored the go ahead goal for her team leading fourth goal of the season and second game winner with 2:37 left in the half when she beat her defender and finished in the far upper left corner.
William Paterson's Alyssa Falduto finished with 11 saves.
Stevenson returns to action when the travel to face No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Wednesday, September 11 beginning at 7:00 p.m.
