Alexa Darak and
Denise Martinez competed for medals in day three of the MAC Championships, as Stevenson concludes the penultimate day seventh overall.
The 200-yard Butterfly opened up day three of the conference championships, and four Mustangs competed during the preliminary session. In the morning, Darak qualified for medal contention with a seventh-place finish following her season-best time of 2:20.78.
Hailey Buenemann and
Claire Price qualified for the second heat of the 200 Fly finals. Both swimmers set new bests, the former recording a season-best time of 2:27.99 and the latter a personal best time of 2:35.83.
Sydney Kawana also competed in this event, swimming in the first heat of the finals.
In the afternoon session, Darak finished seventh overall in the 200 Fly, while Buenemann finished with a season best, beating out her previous set in the morning. She swam a 2:25.27, while counterpart Price finished 15th overall and Kawana ended in 19th with a season-best time of 2:41.39.
The second event of the morning session was the 100 Back. In the preliminary heats, Martinez, one of four Stevenson athletes competing, qualified for the medal contention heat of the event after she finished eighth. The other three Mustangs,
Jorden Sowards-Barnett,
Eryn O'Brien, and Kawana, just missed out on qualifying for the finals. O'Brien, despite not qualifying, set a new personal best in the 100 Back after she swam a 1:07.21.
In the 100 Back finals, Martinez finished eighth overall and swam a new personal best time of 1:01.33.
Stevenson had three Mustangs take to the blocks for the final individual event of the day.
Olivia Jansen and
Sophia Schultze finished 18th and 19th overall in the morning session. Those times qualified them for Heat Two of the finals.
Jordan Terrell also competed, but missed the finals cut.
Jansen and Schultze competed in the first heat of the finals. They recorded an 18th and 21st overall placement for Stevenson.
The concluding event of day three was the 800-yard Freestyle Relay. During the morning session, Stevenson's B team competed. The B team was comprised of
Emmalynn Kohl, Price,
Natalie Kent, and Buenemann.
In the final event of day three,
Charlotte Forte, Jansen, Terrell, and O'Brien took to the blocks for the Mustangs' A team and finished eighth in the 800 Free Relay.
The final day of the MAC Championships will showcase the 100 Free, 200 Back, 200 Breast, and the 1650 Free during the morning session at 9:30 a.m.
