Alexa Darak set a personal best in the 400-yard Individual Medley as the Mustangs competed for medal contention in two events during day two of the MAC Championships.
The first final of the day was the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.

Charlotte Forte, and
Hailey Buenemann competed in Heat 2, while
Laila Umrani-Sanders, Darak,
Jorden Sowards-Barnett, and
Denise Martinez took part in Heat 4. The team that competed in Heat 2 of the finals finished seventh, while the group swimming in Heat 4 finished eighth and set a team season best of 1:45.10.
In the first individual event of the preliminary session, Darak was the lone Mustang to take the blocks. She set a Stevenson season best, 5:02.27, and competed in Heat B during the finals, following her 10th-place preliminary finish in the 400IM.Â
Darak won the second heat of the 400IM, finishing ninth overall, with a personal best time of 4:57.79.
In the 100-yard Butterfly, five of
James Riordon's athletes competed for a spot in the finals during the afternoon session. Buenemann and Martinez finished 12th and 14th and qualified for Heat B, while Umrani-Sanders finished 22nd and qualified for Heat A. Price and Kent did not make the cut in the preliminary session. During the 100 Fly, Buenemannswam a season best 1:03.70, while Umrani-Sanders, 1:06.03, and Price, 1:07.53, recorded personal bests.
During the first heat of the 100 fly finals, Umrani-Sanders outdid her preliminary time and set another personal best after she swam a 1:04.46, securing fourth in the heat. Martinez and Buenemann secured fourth and fifth, respectively, in the second heat of the event finals. The latter finished the finals with a new season best after recording a time of 1:03.32.
During the final preliminary event, the 200 Free, four Stevenson swimmers competed. Forte,
Eryn O'Brien,
Jordan Terrell, and
Emmalynn Kohl competed. Forte and O'Brien secured slots in Heat B with the former recording a personal best time of 2:03.83, and the latter a season best time of 2:05.45. While Terrell and Kohl did not qualify, Terrell set a new personal best by one tenth of a second after she swam a 2:16.14.
Forte led the Mustangs in the 200 Free finals Heat B with a fifth-place finish with a time of 2:04.21, setting a new personal best. O'Brien followed up in the same heat with a seventh-place finish, recording a season-best time of 2:04.99.
The final event of day two at the MAC Championships was the 400-yard Medley Relay. Stevenson had two teams compete; the first consisted of Sowards-Barnett,
Olivia Jansen, Buenemann, and O'Brien, while the second team was comprised of Martinez,
Sophia Schultze, Darak, and Umrani-Sanders. The Mustangs in the first heat, Sowards-Barnett, Jansen, Buenemann, and O'Brien, finished in sixth, while Martinez, Schultze, Darak, and Umrani-Sanders finished seventh overall.
Day three of the MAC Championships continues tomorrow, with the preliminary session beginning at 9:30 a.m. and the Finals at 5:30 p.m. The 200 Fly, 100-yard Backstroke, 100-yard Breaststroke, and 800-yard Freestyle Relay are slated for tomorrow's preliminary session.
