BUFFALO, N.Y. – The eighth-seeded Stevenson acrobatics & tumbling (2-7) opened the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) Division III Tournament with the No. 1 seed University of Mary-Hardin Baylor (5-3) on Thursday morning.
In the compulsory, the Mustangs managed an 8.68 score in the pyramid heat on a 10.00 start value, followed by a 5.65 in the toss heat with a decided 8.00 start value. The total compulsory event score was 20.63.
The team set a new program record in the acro five-element, scoring a 9.15 on a perfect 10.00 start value. This was followed by a 7.05 in the six-element heat on an 8.30 start value, totaling the event to 22.68.
The Mustangs continue to excel in the pyramid event, scoring a an 8.75 in the inversion heat on a 9.50 start value. In the open heat, the team added a 9.33 on a 10.00 start value, for an event total of 26.20.
Showing well in the toss event, a 7.18 score was made in the 450 salto heat on an 8.80 start value. The event score for the toss heats was 19.38.
In the tumbling event, a 6.575 was added in the duo pass on a 7.25 start value. In the solo passes, a 6.300 was made in the six-element on a 7.25 start value, followed by a 7.775 on an 8.00 start value in the open pass. The tumbling event score was 33.650.
A final 44.75 team event score on a 78.66 start value rounded it out for the Mustangs to their final 167.275 score.
