ADRIAN, Mich -- Stevenson senior Allison Trinks won the NCATA DIII Invitational championship in the aerial pass on Sunday morning, finishing with a score of 9.05 in the event finals at the Merillat Sport and Fitness Center. Later in the day, Stevenson competed in its final meet of the inaugural 2022 campaign, falling to Trine 200.970-131.600 in the consolation meet.
Trinks debuted the new tumbling pass over the weekend, capping her stellar season with the championship in the event finals, which took place before the Mustangs' meet against Trine.
Later in the day, Stevenson earned a victory in the tumbling portion of the meet with strong scores across the heat. Trinks improved on her championship performance earlier in the day with a 9.20 out of 9.50, while Stevenson impressed with an 8.40 out of 8.50 in the open pass.
Fittingly enough, the strong score in the open pass from Megan Despres came on the season's final heat, raising the standard for the program and providing the Mustangs with plenty of momentum heading into year two.
The Mustangs won the inversion and open pyramid heats, with scores of 9.30 and 9.0, respectively. Despres, Makenzie Estes, Paige Leszcynski, Trinks, Lexi Gross and Chrissy Carpenter represented the Mustangs in the inversion pyramid.
Estes, Sarah Padilla, Taylor Hawkins, Trinks, Leszcynski, Despres and Gross took the mat for the Mustangs in the open pyramid.
