Milestones Aplenty in Mustangs Shutout Win

Box Score

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Stevenson women's soccer took care of business, dispatching Alvernia in a 3-0 victory on Saturday at Mustang Stadium.

Senior keeper Keegan Caffrey set the program's new all-time saves mark with three stops on the day, bringing her total to 320 at Stevenson (5-6-5, 3-2-1 MAC Commonwealth). The milestones didn't stop there for the Mustangs, as head coach Tati Korba registered the 100th victory of her collegiate coaching career, coming between her time at both Goucher and Stevenson.

Jessica Kern and Ericka Kitzinger also posted their first collegiate goals for the Mustangs, who worked in a large chunk of the lineup on Saturday.

  • Off a forward set-piece, Alvernia's (3-13, 0-6) Kyla Gibson raced in to flick a shot on target that Caffrey gobbled up in the 5th minute for the record-breaking save.
  • Allison Arters alertly turned and placed home a goal off a feed from Ericka Kitzinger in the 25th minute for the opening goal of the evening and a 1-0 Stevenson lead.
  • Kitzinger doubled the advantage with a marker of her own, slotting home a pass from Kylie DonBullian in the 42nd minute.

  • The Golden Wolves posted a pair of attempts, one high and the other saved by Caffrey in the 61st minute.
  • Stevenson regained possession with two more looks, coming from Nieve Barry and Kennedy Cash, both stopped by Alvernia keeper Brynn Brock.
  • Kern capped the scoring with her first collegiate marker off a chaotic scramble in front in the 72nd minute.

  • Caffrey breaks the program's saves record previously held by Tiffany McKee.
  • Korba has collected 71 head coaching victories at Goucher and 29 more at Stevenson.
  • The win was an important one for the Mustangs to keep pace in the MAC Commonwealth standings. Following play on Saturday, Stevenson is third in the league standings.
  • Stevenson owned an 11-6 edge in shot attempts.
  • In addition to her first collegiate goal, Kitzinger added her team-best fourth assist of the season for the Mustangs.

  • Stevenson: The Mustangs travel to York (Pa.) on Tuesday, October 26 for a 7:00 PM matchup.
  • Alvernia: The Golden Wolves face Albright on Tuesday, October 26 at 7:00 PM.
