Late Goal Downs Women's Soccer

OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University women's soccer team concluded its 2026 campaign Saturday afternoon, falling to Albright College, 1-0, in a tightly contested MAC Commonwealth matchup at Owings Mills East.

Despite controlling much of the offensive momentum in the second half and outshooting the Lions 18-12, the Mustangs were unable to find the back of the net as a late Albright goal proved to be the difference.

Stevenson came out aggressively in the opening half, creating several early scoring opportunities. First year, Kailyn Beall registered the Mustangs' first shot in the 10th minute, while Ashley Bowman followed with a pair of attempts, including a shot on goal in the 16th minute that was turned away by Albright goalkeeper.

Both sides continued to battle for possession throughout the opening 45 minutes, but neither team could break through as the contest remained scoreless heading into halftime.

The Mustangs emerged from the break with renewed offensive pressure, recording 13 second-half shots compared to Albright's five. Karly Sheahan sparked the Stevenson attack with a shot on goal in the 61st minute before nearly breaking the deadlock just two minutes later, sending an attempt off the crossbar.

Stevenson continued to generate opportunities as Beall forced Albright into another save in the 70th minute. The Mustangs maintained their offensive presence throughout the closing stages, with Beall, Nyla Behram and Alegra Serrano contributing to the attack.

Despite Stevenson's sustained pressure, Albright capitalized on a late opportunity in the 85th minute when they found the back of the net at the 84:03 mark, giving the Lions a 1-0 advantage.
