SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The No. 12 Stevenson men's volleyball team took the first set from No. 2 Springfield, but the host Pride took a 3-1 decision in the final of the International Volleyball Hall of Fame Morgan Classic Saturday night at Blake Arena.  Set scores were 21-25, 25-18, 28-26, 25-19.

• Stevenson (8-4) took a 14-12 lead after a Kyle Bosko kill and a block by Aleks Melbardis and Nate Reynolds.
• After Springfield (9-1) got the next point, a Pride service error and an attack error increased the Mustang lead to 16-13.
• Springfield cut the lead to one by getting the next two points.
• A service error, followed by a block by Reynolds and Peyton Ranck, put the visitors up 18-15.
• The Pride cut the lead to two twice, but a 3-0 spurt capped by a Bosko kill put Stevenson on top 22-17.
• A Reynolds kill closed out the set.

• Springfield nearly led the second wire-to-wire, as the set was tied once at 1-1 and the Pride never trailed.
• Leading 9-7, Springfield scored three straight points to make it a five-point match, then later extended the lead to 15-9.
• The Pride took their largest lead at 21-12.
• Stevenson chipped away, and back-to-back kills by Melbardis and Tyler Aiello made it 23-18.
• Springfield recorded the final two points to even the match.

• Stevenson opened up a 13-7 lead following three straight kills by Logan Smiley, Melbardis and Bosko.
• The Pride scored the next four points to cut the lead to 13-11.
• Springfield cut the lead to two twice, but the Mustangs pulled away and led 24-19 on a Tanner Stauffer kill.
• With the guests serving for set point, Springfield rattled off five straight points to tie the set 24-24.
• A service error put Stevenson back in front, but a Mustang service error and a Springfield service ace put the hosts up 26-25.
• Another Pride service error tied the set, but back-to-back Springfield kills put it up 2-1.

• Springfield jumped out to an early 9-4 advantage.
• Stevenson scored five of the next seven points and a Springfield attack error pulled the Mustangs within a pair, 11-9.
• After a Stauffer kill that made it 16-13, the Pride scored the next three points to go up 19-13.
• The Mustangs scored the next two points to cut the lead to four on a Bosko kill, but the Pride did not allow Stevenson to get any closer.

• Springfield hit .339 for the match while the Mustangs hit .290.
• The Pride had a total of 10 service aces on the night, while Stevenson had two.
• Smiley led the Mustangs with 14 kills and 10 digs.
• Bosko hit .588 and notched 11 kills (11-1-17) and also had a pair of blocks.
• Melbardis added 10 kills and five blocks.
• Reynolds had five kills on .455 hitting without an error and recorded six blocks.
• Stauffer had six kills and seven digs.
• Ranck handed out 36 assists.

• Stevenson opens Middle Atlantic Conference play next Saturday, hosting Widener in a 2 pm match at Owings Mills Gymnasium.
