Roth Dishes Out Assists as Men’s Volleyball Drops Match to No. 4 Stevens

Hoboken, N.J. (March 28) — The Stevenson Mustangs faced a tough road test Saturday afternoon but continued to show resilience and flashes of strong play despite a 3–0 setback against No. 4 Stevens at Canavan Arena for MAC action.

Set 1:
Stevens jumped out to an early advantage, capitalizing on a few Stevenson miscues to take a 5–1 lead. The Mustangs responded behind a kill from Kevin Kouchoukos and a strong finish from Adam DeRubertis to settle into the match. A block from Adam Sawyers and Kouchoukos helped cut into the deficit, while Tanner Laukhuff added a key kill to keep Stevenson within striking distance. Corwin Trouteaud also contributed late with a kill, but Stevens maintained control down the stretch to take the opening set, 25–16.

Set 2:
The second set saw Stevens again build early momentum, but Stevenson continued to fight. Kouchoukos delivered a kill and a service ace to spark a brief run, while Sawyers and DeRubertis added timely finishes to keep the Mustangs competitive. Late in the set, Ben Grove provided a spark with consecutive kills, and RC Getteau chipped in with a strong swing to extend rallies. Despite the push, Stevens closed out the frame, 25–14.

Set 3:
Stevenson showed its strongest response in the third set. Jackson Bones ignited the offense early with a kill and a service ace, while Getteau and Sawyers added points to keep pace. Dean Holbrook and Grove contributed key plays during extended rallies, and the Mustangs continued to battle through long points. Although Stevens used a late run to pull away, Stevenson remained aggressive until the final point, with Sawyers adding a late kill before the set ended, 25–12.

Stevenson will look to bounce back quickly as they return home tomorrow, Sunday, March 29, to host King's (Pa.) in MAC action at 5 p.m..
