Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Hood to Close Regular Season

Frederick, Md. (April 2) – In dominant fashion, the Stevenson men's volleyball team closed out the regular season with a decisive sweep of Hood, defeating the Blazers 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-19) to secure a MAC victory.

Set 1:
Stevenson came out firing, as kills from Michael Dixon and Patrick Siewert fueled an early 5-1 run. Contributions from Sutton Scoutelas, along with a service ace from Joaquim Cariaso, helped the Mustangs extend their lead to 13-6. Siewert and Dean Holbrook continued to apply pressure, and Scoutelas capped off the set with a kill to give Stevenson a commanding 25-12 win.

Set 2:
The Mustangs carried their momentum into the second set, quickly jumping out to an 11-4 advantage behind strong play from Dixon and Scoutelas. Hood attempted to regroup on its home court, but Stevenson maintained control. A string of service aces from Scoutelas widened the gap to 21-7, and Siewert and Dixon closed out the set, 25-12, putting the Mustangs one set away from victory.

Set 3:
Stevenson once again started strong, but Hood found its rhythm and battled back to tie the set at 10-10. The Mustangs responded immediately with a 9-2 run, sparked by offensive efforts from Nathan Deha and Dixon at the net. Continuing to apply pressure, Dixon exploited openings in the Blazers' defense, and Scoutelas sealed the match with a final kill to secure the 25-19 set win and complete the sweep.

Stevenson now turns its attention to the postseason, as the Mustangs will travel to face No. 2 Messiah in the MAC Championship Tournament on Thursday, April 9 at 7 p.m.
