Men's Tennis Falls in Non-Conference Match to Haverford

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team suffered just its second loss of the season in a 6-3 setback to non-conference opponent Haverford, at the Greenspring Courts.

Juniors Drew Ryan and Ray McDermott fell to 9-3 on the year after falling in their No. 1 doubles match by an 8-1 score. Senior Douglas Vaughan and junior Andre Sturniolo dropped their No. 2 match by an 8-2 margin, giving them a 14-3 record on the season. Senior Peter Appiah Jr. and freshman Larry Johnson III lost their No. 3 match, 8-3. 

Ryan improved to 14-3 after winning his No. 3 match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. 

Senior Wornden Ly also picked up a straight-set victory in No. 5, winning his match 6-4, 6-4. The win improves Ly's record to 8-4. 

Johnson won his 12th match of the season in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. 

The Mustangs conclude conference play in a home match against Alvernia on Saturday, April 27. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
