OWINGS MILLS, Md.- The 10th ranked Stevenson men's volleyball team hit a match-high .507 as the Mustangs defeated Continental Volleyball Conference opponent Thiel in straight sets, 25-10, 25-16, 25-20, on Saturday at Owings Mills Gymnasium.

The Mustangs (15-5, 9-0 CVC) improved to 6-0 at home this season with all six wins coming in straight sets. The team also stayed unbeaten in the conference and have not dropped a set in league play.

Senior Patrick Schuyler totaled a kill and three straight service aces to give Stevenson an early 4-0 lead in the opening set. Thiel (1-10, 1-6 CVC) stopped the early run with a point off of a Mustang error, but the hosts continued their momentum and extend their lead to as many as 15.

Stevenson totaled 16 kills and just one error on 20 swings for a .750 hitting percentage compared to just six kills and four errors on 22 swings for the Tomcats.

After attack errors awarded the Mustangs an early 3-0 lead in the second set, Thiel responded with back-to-back points to get within one. But that would be as the Tomcats would get as Stevenson won six of the next seven points.

The Mustangs held their opponent to an under .100 hitting percentage for the sixth time this season as the Tomcats hit just .076.

Schuyler and senior Kyle Pottieger each finished with a team-high nine kills while Johnny Kimenhour finished with five on seven attempts. Schuyler also finished with four service aces.

Stevenson returns to action on Thursday, March 10th when the Mustangs travel to Mount St. Joseph for a non-conference contest beginning at 5:00 p.m.
