Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - For the fourth time this season, Stevenson men's soccer senior Michael Tringali recorded at least 10 saves as the Mustangs dropped a MAC Commonwealth contest versus Hood, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon at Mustang Stadium.
It was the third straight win for the Blazers (8-2, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) in the 12 game series between the two teams. The Mustangs had won the first nine meetings dating back to 2004 and had given up just nine goals in the series before this game.
The visitors wasted no time as Hood recorded its first shot just 1:23 into the contest. The Blazers recorded the first three shots and nine of the first ten while outshooting Stevenson, 29-9 in the game.
Juliano Pillari nearly put the Blazers ahead in the ninth minute as he ripped a shot from 35 yards that dinged off the crossbar. Hood had three shots hit the crossbar in the game, including two in the second half.
Hood got on the board in the 17th minute as Clay Smith scored his first goal of the season on a header on the near post off a corner kick from Christiano Pillari.
The Mustangs (2-8-2, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) recorded the next four shots, but Danny Castillo totaled three consecutive saves. Castillo recorded four saves in the contest.
Off a long throw in by Robert Ellerson, Drew Demich chest passed it to Christiano Pillari who quickly switched to his left foot and buried the ball to the far post from the top of the box. It was the first goal of the season for Pillari who leads the team in assists.
Under four minute later, Alain Nzojibwami fresh off the bench had to ball down the left side outside of the 18-yard box before crossing it in to Demich on the far post. Demich used his body to direct the ball into the net.
Juliano Pillari scored Hood's third goal in a 7:12 span after collecting a short pass from Demich before shooting from 35 yards out just inside the left post.
The Blazers fired seven shots in the first 15 minutes of the second half with Tringali getting a piece on two of them. Christiano Pillari blasted two long distance shots off the crossbar in a four-minute span.
Hood held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks in the game.
Stevenson returns to action on Saturday, October 8 when the Mustangs travel to Albright for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
