Men's Soccer Drops Contest to Hood in Conference Play

FREDERICK, Md. – The Stevenson University men's soccer team fell to Hood College, 2-0, Wednesday evening at Thomas Athletic Field in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth action.

The Blazers opened the contest with offensive pressure, forcing Andrew Sindicic to make two early saves. Hood broke through in the 21st minute when they found the back of the net, giving the Blazers a 1-0 advantage.

Stevenson looked to respond in the opening half, generating four shots and three corner kicks. Levi Tanguay recorded the Mustangs' lone shot on goal of the half in the 33rd minute, but Hood goalkeeper turned away the opportunity. Jackson Robinson added two shots before halftime as Stevenson continued searching for the equalizer.

The Mustangs came out aggressively to begin the second half, creating back-to-back scoring opportunities. Ryan Miller registered a shot in the 48th minute, followed by Blest Dumbuya in the 50th minute, but both attempts were denied by the Hood defense.

Hood extended its lead in the 55th minute when the Blazers' doubled their advantage to 2-0.

Stevenson continued battling throughout the remainder of the contest, with Gaston Magrinat-Valdes and Dumbuya recording late scoring attempts. However, the Mustangs were unable to break through.

Sindicic finished with six saves across 90 minutes of action for Stevenson. Robinson and Dumbuya led the Mustangs offensively with two shots apiece, while Tanguay, Miller and Dumbuya each registered a shot on goal.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Chester, Pa. to take on Widener in MAC Commonwealth play starting at 4 p.m.
