Andrew Bordelon was named the seventh head coach in Stevenson men's soccer program history on June 17, 2016.
“ I am thrilled and excited to have Andrew Bordelon join our athletic department team to coach the men’s soccer program,” said Stevenson Director of Athletics Brett Adams at the time of Bordelon's hiring. “Coach Bordelon is an accomplished head coach at the NCAA Division III level while garnering conference and regional coach of the year awards. With his experience at the college level, as well as his experience coaching in the PDL with the Springfield Synergy, Andrew will bring a high level of professional experience, regional and international recruiting experience, and player development knowledge to the position. I am eager for him to get started.”
Bordelon took over the program at Westminster (Mo.) College in the spring of 2013 and guided the Blue Jays to the round of 16 of the NCAA tournament, the deepest run in program history, and a 13-9-1 overall record that included a Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) tournament title. He was named the NSCAA Central Region Coach of the Year.
In three seasons at the helm of the Blue Jays, Bordelon guided Westminster to three straight NCAA appearances and three straight conference tournament titles, compiling a 41-20-2 mark, including a 17-3 record in 2015 that earned him SLIAC Coach of the Year honors. The 2015 squad ranked second nationally in goals scored with 82 in 20 games.
Prior to Westminster, Bordelon was an assistant coach at Division II member Drury University in Springfield, Missouri, his alma mater. Bordelon was a four-year starter for the Drury soccer team from 2006-2009. He ranked fourth all-time in career assists, and was named Daktronics First Team All-Midwest Region and Daktronics All-America Honorable Mention. He helped lead the Panthers to the school’s first conference championship and a Sweet Sixteen Appearance in 2009, and to the school’s best season in history with a 21-2 record.
Bordelon also has USL Premier Development League coaching experience, serving as head coach of Springfield Synergy FC in the summer of 2015, guiding the club to the winningest season in program history.
Bordelon earned his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science at Drury in 2010. He received his Master’s degree in secondary education from Drury in 2012.
