Box Score ARLINGTON, Va. - The Stevenson men's basketball duo of senior Greg Woody (Baltimore/Mount Saint Joseph) and sophomore Brett Burrier (Westminster/Winters Mill) combined for 38 of the team's 55 points, but the Mustangs couldn't overcome a 30.9 field goal percentage as Marymount (Va.) posted a 73-55 victory Saturday at Verizon Sports Arena.
The loss was the sixth-straight conference defeat for Stevenson (5-11, 1-6 CAC) who were just 18-of-59 from the floor and out-rebounded, 48-34.
The Saints (3-13, 1-6 CAC) totaled 20 second-chance points 19 off turnovers en route to snapping a five-game losing streak. All three of the team's wins have come at home where it is 3-4 this season.
The Mustangs rallied from a 10-point first half deficit to time the lead to three before a three-pointer by Woody with 18 seconds remaining pulled them within six at halftime, 30-24. He had 13 points in the half while the rest of the team had 11. He also added three steals.
Marymount totaled 20 of its 30 points in the paint and had 10 second-chance points off seven offensive rebounds.
Stevenson trailed by just three with 7:21 left in the second, but a 7-0 run by the Saints pushed it to 10 with just over five minutes to play.
Leading by eight with 2:15 remaining, the Saints made 10-of-12 free throws in the final 1:54, including the last eight-straight, to provide the final margin of 18.
Woody finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three steals while Burrier had 16 points, 14 of which came in the second half. He also added nine rebounds, just missing his third career double double.
Woody and Burrier combined to go 12-of-33 from the floor while the rest of the team was 6-for-26. They were also 6-of-18 from three-point range.
Reed Scott totaled 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead Marymount while Tarek Ammoury had 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Stevenson returns home to face York (Pa.) on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
