Men's Basketball Drops Tough Road Battle at York (Pa.)

York, Pa. (January 21) – Stevenson men's basketball mounted a determined challenge against MAC Commonwealth leader York College but came up short in a 78–68 road contest at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

Stevenson opened the game with early life, responding to the Spartans' initial possession with an a shot behind the arc from Kendall Seguignol and an inside finish by Myles Jackson to take the Mustangs to an early lead. M. Jackson kept Stevenson in front with one from the charity stripe as the Mustangs used a quick offensive burst to go up by as many as six in the opening minutes.

The Spartans, however, answered with a run of their own midway through the first half. A pair of triples and a driving layup helped York edge back into contention, and the home team regained the advantage with 12:31 to go in the half. Stevenson's Noah Ihezue was able to sink a few shots, and Kyle Luddy found his way to the rim, keeping the Mustangs within striking distance, sending the teams into halftime with York on top, 39–32.

Stevenson opened the second half with renewed energy, as M. Jackson knocked down a three in the first 15 seconds of the half. Christian Jackson's penetration into the gaps created second-chance opportunities for the Mustangs. Behind relentless effort on both ends, Stevenson trimmed the Spartan lead to within single digits on multiple occasions, including to one point with nine minutes remaining.

In the final minutes, Stevenson pushed with urgency, tying the game at 54-54 after M. Jackson grabbed one from the free throw line. But York responded with free throws of their own and efficient possessions down the stretch to hold off the Mustangs for the 78–68 victory.

Stevenson will now head to Widener University for a 3:00 p.m. MAC Commonwealth match up on Saturday, January 24
