Owings Mills, MD- The Villa Julie men's
soccer team defeated conference foe Hood College 2-0 at home this
weekend. The win improves the Mustangs' overall record to
6-6-1 and their conference record to 3-2.
Coach John Plevyak described the victory as a “great team
win,” as all of the players were given the opportunity to
play. The Mustangs also out-shot the Blazers 23 to 13.
Joel Mansker (Ocean City, MD/Stephen Decatur) put
the Mustangs on the board at the 33:57 mark with an assist from
Marios Loizou (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial).
Scott Andrzejewski (Towson, MD/Towson), assisted
by Justin Carver (Manchester, MD/North Carroll),
sealed the win with 25 minutes left in the game.
The Mustangs held off a very determined Hood squad as they earned
their fourth defensive shut-out for the season. Goalkeeper
Eric Lowman (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville) tallied
seven saves.
This win capped out the best week for the Mustangs, going 2-0-1.
The Mustangs are back in action on October 10 when they
travel to CAC foe Salisbury University.
