The sixth head coach in school history, Plevyak finished his ninth season as the head men's soccer coach at Stevenson in 2015. He has 28 years of coaching experience and over 400 career games to his credit.
In 2014, the Mustangs won eight of their first nine games for the second best start in school history. One of the highlights of the season came on October 14, when Stevenson held No. 1 Messiah to a scoreless double overtime draw. The team had two players earn All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team honors.
In 2013, the Mustangs posted a 7-1-2 record at home. The team had two players named to the All-Commonwealth Conference team as senior Christopher Panian was named to the first team and junior Yianni Sarioglou to the second. Panina was also named to the ECAC Division III All-Star First Team.
In 2012, junior Christopher Panian was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team.
In the final season in the CAC and the first in Mustang Stadium, the Mustangs finished 7-10-1 in 2011. Freshman Yianni Sarioglou was named the CAC Rookie of the Year.
Plevyak led the Mustangs to a 14-5-3 record in 2010, the second most wins in the program's 18 year history, one shy of the record. The team appeared in the semifinals of the CAC Men's Soccer Championship, the third in a four year span. In only the teams second postseason appearance in the program's history, the Mustangs won the 2010 ECAC Division III South Region Championship.
After going unbeaten in their final seven games in 2010, the Mustangs garnered their first All-American selection in sophomore Ansger Otto, who was the nations leading scorer that season. Oscar was also named CAC Player of the Year.
In 2009, third-year head coach Plevyak was named CAC Co-Coach of the Year, as he led Stevenson to a fourth-place finish in the CAC with a 12-10-1 record. As the fourth-seed in the CAC Men's Soccer Championship, Stevenson advanced to its first conference title game in school history before ending the season in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III South Region Championship.
The Mustangs finished the year unbeaten in eight of their final 10 games while freshman Otto was named CAC and ECAC South Rookie of the Year. Senior Vinny Caltabiano and junior Sean Scarselletta were also named to the 2009 NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Team as honorable mention selections, marking the first honorees in the school's 16-year history.
Plevyak came to Stevenson from McDaniel in 2007 and proceeded to lead the team to an 8-10-1 record. The Mustangs went 4-4 in their first season in the CAC and advanced to the conference semifinals as the No. 6-seed.
The winningest head coach in the history of the men's soccer program at McDaniel, Plevyak holds the record for most wins in the team's 82-year history with an overall record of 116-110-19. He also ranks fifth on the Centennial Conference's all-time wins list and is fourth in conference victories with 42.
In five of his last seven seasons from 2000-06, Plevyak's teams finished in the top 10 in the Mid-Atlantic Region. He led the Green Terror to 79 wins during that time, the most over any seven-year period in team history.
Plevyak coached 37 players who were selected to the All-Centennial Conference team, two of which who were named Player of the Year. Three of his players also earned awards outside of the playing field on the NSCAA Scholar All-East Region Team, a squad that encompasses all three NCAA divisions.
Throughout the first 70 years prior to Plevyak's arrival at McDaniel, only two teams had totaled double-digit wins in a single season, a feat that he achieved in five of his last seven as head coach. The Green Terror won a school record 15 games in 2003 and 14 in both 2001 and 2005. They also won 11 in 2004.
Under Plevyak from 2003-05, McDaniel totaled a 40-17-6 record with 30 of those 40 victories coming by shutout. In 2005, he led the Green Terror to the Centennial Conference regular season title after they allowed just two goals in nine conference games.
A Baltimore native, Plevyak began his coaching career at his alma mater, Mount Saint Joseph High School where his legendary father John, Sr., served as a coach and administrator for 50 years and for whom the field was dedicated for on Oct. 25, 2008. John, Jr., led the Gaels to an 81-22-10 record and two MIAA championships.
After eight seasons at Mount Saint Joseph, Plevyak stepped away from coaching and entered the business world for 11 years before taking over at McDaniel in 1994.
A 1977 graduate of the University of Baltimore, Plevyak lives in Finksburg with his wife, Dana, and their two children, Lindsey and Jonathan.
