Women’s Beach Volleyball finishes 3-1 at Gaston Beach Invitational

DALLAS, N.C. – The Stevenson women's beach volleyball team went 3-1 during their four-match weekend at Gaston. The Mustangs defeated Catawba 3-2, Gaston 5-0, Salem 4-1 and fell to Lynchburg 2-3 on Friday and Saturday.


By the Numbers:

Lynchburg 2-3

First Pair: Giulia Viglietta and Nicolette Fuglestad fell in three sets to the Hornets 1-2, finishing with sets of 17-21, 21-18, and 11-15. 

Second Pair: In the second pairing, Ella Means and Jacque Rizzuto fell in three sets with set scores of 13-21, 21-17, and 13-15. 

Third Pair: In the 3s, Kylie DesLauriers and Sima Kahoussi won both sets, slotting scores of 21-2 and 22-20.

Fourth Pair: Rachel Lenz and Claire Thompson fought to three sets but fell, 21-17, 18-21, 13-15.

Fifth Pair: In the fifth paring, Scarlett Dunn and Courtney Foose won both sets, 21-18 and 21-17. 

Catawba 3-2

First Pair: Viglietta and Fuglestad fought to three sets and won 2-1, finishing their sets 17-21, 21-18, and 15-5.

Second Pair: In the 2s, Means and Rizzuto fell 1-2. 

Third Pair: DesLauriers and Kahoussi took another win in two sets, with scores of 21-19 and 21-8.

Fourth Pair: In the third pairing, Lenz and Thompson won in three sets 18-21, 21-16, and 18-16. 

Fifth Pair: Dunn and Foose fell 1-2 in their three-set fight. 

Gaston 5-0

First Pair: In the 1s, Viglietta and Fuglestad won in two sets, 21-9 and 21-6. 

Second Pair: Means and Rizzuto defeated Gaston 2-0, winning both sets 21-8.

Third Pair: In the 3s, DesLauriers and Kahoussi won both sets, slotting scores of 21-2 and 22-20.

Fourth Pair: Gaston forfeit the set. 

Fifth Pair: Gaston forfeit the set.

Salem 4-1

First Pair: Viglietta and Fuglestad fought to three sets, winning 2-1. 

Second Pair: In the 2s, Means and Rizzuto won both sets, 21-15 and 21-16. 

Third Pair: For the third pairing, DesLauriers and Kahoussi won 21-18 and 21-19.

Fourth Pair: Lenz and Thompson snagged a 2-0 win, 21-13 and 21-19.  

Fifth Pair: Dunn and Foose fell in the 5s 0-2.
