GRANTHAM, Pa. -
Brendan Lach breaks the 1000-yard Freestyle program record in one of his team's five event wins in the close loss against Messiah.
In a dual-match against MAC opponents Messiah,
James Riordon's team fell short, 107-145, in the penultimate meet of the season.
Keon Pugh,
Brandon Cogdill,
William Lebron, and
Justin Watts kicked off the meet for Stevenson with a second-place finish in the 400-yard Medley Relay.
Lach then took the pool to win the 1000-yard Free and break his previous Stevenson record, set at last season's Last Chance Qualifier meet, by 1.76 seconds.
Lebron followed Lach's lead and secured the Mustangs' second win in the first three events. He swam a 1:55.89 in the 200-yard Free, winning by over five seconds.
Pugh finished second in his return to the blocks for the 100-yard Backstroke and swam a 58.52.
In the 100-yard Breaststroke, Cogdill secured third place with a time of 1:06.37, while
Mekhi Herring set a personal best, swimming a 2:35.20 in the 100-yard Butterfly.
In the following event,
Aiden Dill swam a 24.29 in the 50-yard Free and finished third. Pugh followed Dill's finish with a personal best and victory in the 100-yard Free, where he swam a time of 51.61.
Dill returned following a one-event break for the 200-yard back and swam a personal best 2:12.57, and gave his team another second-place finish.
Noah Abd won the 200-yard Breast with a time of 2:22.89. Two events later, he secured a second-place result in the 100-yard Fly.
Lebron secured another strong performance in the 500-yard Free with a second-place time of 5:20.85.
In the final individual event,
Nick Bierstine finished third in the 200-yard Individual Medley and swam a 2:24.82.
Stevenson finished the meet strong with a victory in the 200-yard Free Relay. Pugh, Cogdill, Lebron, and Watts swam a 1:34.74 in the meet's final event.
The Mustangs host a Last Chance Qualifier meet on January 31 at the Rosenberg Aquatic Center. That meet will be the final opportunity for competing swimmers to qualify for the MAC Championships taking place from February 12 to 15.
