COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Stevenson University women's volleyball team finished up its Midwestern trip on Saturday by taking one of two matches at Capital University as part of the Pam Briggs Classic.
In the opener, the Mustangs (3-3) defeated host Capital 3-0, while falling to Hanover in the final match, 3-0.
Giulia Viglietta was named to the All-Classic team for her efforts at the two-day event, featuring some of the top teams in the Midwest.
Stevenson 3, Capital 0
Stevenson won the opening match 25-22, 25-21 and 25-20. The Mustangs hit well in the early morning match, going 40-19-103 (.204) with a high-water mark of .226 (12-5-31) in the second set.
Lillanna Hornickle and
Sydney Salazar led the way with eight kills each, while Hornickle hit .500 (8-2-12). Logan Burke also got eight kills in the opener, as she hit .286, while Salazar hit .294.
Declyn Tooze had four service aces, while
Rachel Lenz and
Allie Gaus each had three.
Courtney Foose had 22 assists for Stevenson, while Viglietta had three blocks. Burge had four blocks on the day, with three of them assisted.
Lenz had six digs, with Tooze, Gaus and
Isabella Terra each having vie.
Stevenson 3, Hanover 0
Set scores in the Hanover match were 25-23, 25-17 and 25-21. Stevenson hit .181 in the last match (33-14-105) with a .222 clip (12-4-36) in the third set.
Viglietta and Salazar, along with Burge all had six kills in the match.
Maren Zepfel had five kills on eight attempts with zero errors (.625).
Hornickle had four blocks while Burge and
Autumn Henry each had two.
Foose had 14 assists, with Tooze getting 13.
Viglietta had ten digs with
Lilly Eichelberger added in nine.
Stevenson hosts Gettysburg on Wednesday.
