GULF SHORES, Ala. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball faced No. 8 East Texas Baptist and No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor earlier today in pool play for the 2025 AVCA Division III Small College Championships. The Mustangs would split on the day, defeating East Texas Baptist 3-0 before being swept by Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Stevenson's victory was clinched by its second, third, and fifth flights.
At the twos, Nicolette Fuglestad and Miranda Mueck earned 21-19 and 21-16 victories. Threes Sima Kahoussi and Giulia Viglietta won 21-15 before pushing a 22-20 second-set victory. Fifth flight Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson won both sets in convincing fashion, allowing just eight and ten points against.
In the loss to second-seeded Mary Hardin-Baylor, ones Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja took their opponents to the limit, ultimately falling 21-18 and 21-19.
Courtney Foose and Rachel Lenz fell 21-8 and 21-9 at the fours, and Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson lost 21-8 and 21-16 at the fives.
With their 1-1 record, the Mustangs are slated to face fourth-seeded University of Lynchburg tomorrow morning in the tournament's quarterfinals. The winner advances to the semifinal round and will face Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Action will start at 9:40 a.m. EST on Gulf Shores Public Beach, courts 11-15.
