Women's Beach Volleyball earns fifth seed in 2025 AVCA National Championships

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team is headed to Gulf Shores, Alabama to compete in the 2025 AVCA Small College Beach Championships, held Thursday, April 17th through Sunday, April 19th.

After earning bronze at the national tournament in 2024, the Mustangs return as the No. 5 seed with a 13-8 overall record. They will compete in Pool B alongside No. 2 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and No. 8 East Texas Baptist University.

Stevenson is familiar with East Texas Baptist, having defeated the Tigers earlier this season on March 8 with a 4-1 result. The Mustangs also topped them in last year's bronze medal match, winning 3-1. They have yet to face Mary Hardin-Baylor, who enters the tournament with a 17-12 record. The Crusaders are the reigning champions after going undefeated in the 2024 AVCA tournament.

Pool plays for the Mustangs begins Friday, April 17. They will face East Texas Baptist at 12:20 p.m. on courts 6–10, followed by a matchup with Mary Hardin-Baylor at 3:35 p.m. on courts 11–15.

 (7) Southern Virginia Knights: 12-16 Overall
 (8) East Texas Baptist Tigers: 6-20 Overall
 (9) LaGrange Panthers: 1-16 Overall

Tournament information, including scores, rosters, and updated brackets, will be available through Volleyball Life. Friday's results will determine Saturday's seeding and start times, with matches scheduled for as early as 7:30 a.m. on the 19th. The title match is scheduled for 1:20 p.m. that same day.
