OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball celebrated senior day this afternoon to close out the Stevenson Invitational. The Mustangs would honor their seniors with a pair of victories - one over Lynchburg and one over Lancaster Bible.
Against Lynchburg, the Mustangs notched four wins and an exhibition victory.
Second pairing Nicolette Fuglestad and Miranda Mueck earned wins of 21-17 and 21-18 while third flight Sima Kahoussi and Giulia Viglietta went 21-17 and 21-19.
At the fours, Rachel Lenz and Courtney Foose allowed a mere 23 total points against in their two sets. Fifth flight Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson earned two quick victories, 21-15 and 21-13.
In exhibition, Maren Zepfel and Makala Thompson battled back from a first set loss to take the flight 21-5 and 15-13.
The Mustangs capped off their invitational with a strong showing against Lancaster Bible, earning a clean sweep.
Ones Hannah Naja and Maddie Clouser won 21-17 and 21-19 and twos Nicolette Fuglestad and Miranda Mueck won 21-10 and 21-15.
The third flight of Sima Kahoussi and Giulia Viglietta earned dominant 21-4 and 21-14 wins and Brianna West and Isabella Terra won in a pair of 21-18 sets at the fours.
Playing at the fives, Maren Zepfel and Makala Thompson allowed only 17 points against while Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson allowed 15 in exhibition.
The pair of wins puts the Mustangs at 13-8 for the regular season. Stevenson will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama next weekend for the AVCA Division III Small College Beach Championships, from which they brought home bronze last season.
