BELTON, Texas - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball began their 2025 season this weekend at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Tournament. The Mustangs faced Hendrix, East Texas Baptist, and Nicholls State, earning victories in all three contests.
Against Hendrix on Friday, the Mustangs earned a 4-1 victory, winning at the first, third, fourth, and fifth flights, each in just two sets.Â
Stevenson's first flight of Nicolette Fuglestad and Miranda Mueck notched 22-20 and 21-15 victories, third flight Giulia Viglietta and Sima Kahoussi earned quick 21-10 and 21-12 wins, fourth pair Claire Thompson and Scarlett Dunn finished 21-15 and 21-17, and Stevenson's final flight of Courtney Foose and Rachel Lenz won 21-14 and 21-13 for their first collegiate beach volleyball victories.
On day two, the Mustangs would first notch another 4-1 victory against East Texas Baptist University before tacking on a 3-2 win over Nicholls State, all while battling intense rain.
Stevenson's top four flights notched the necessary victories, most notably Stevenson's third pairing of Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja, who battled it out to a 35-33 victory in their second set. At the ones, Miranda Mueck and Nicolette Fuglestad went three sets, winning the first and third 21-21 and 15-10. Sima Kahoussi and Giulia Viglietta made short work of their second flight opponents, allowing just 19 total points against. Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson won their sets 21-19 and 21-14 at the fours.
Against Nichols, Stevenson's three flight wins came from Giulia Viglietta and Sima Kahoussi (3s), Scarlett Dunn and Claire Thompson (4s), and Courtney Foose and Rachel Lenz (5s).
The Mustangs return to Maryland 3-0 before traveling back down south to Florida for their spring break contests.
