OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Stevenson acrobatics & tumbling hosted its home opener meet for the 2025 season on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Division II Caldwell University Cougars in a dual-meet.
In the opening compulsory event, the Mustangs managed an 8.95 score in the pyramid heat. Despite finishing out the event with a 6.50 in the toss heat and a 2.00 in the tumbling heat, the team kept pace with the Cougars moving into the Acro event.
With a 9.20 start value, the Mustangs added a 7.55 in the five-element, trailing the Cougars by decimals as they added a 7.90. On an 8.50 start value, the Mustangs showed a 6.50 in the six- element heat, topping the Cougars' 6.10 score, followed by an 8.00 on a near-perfect 9.85 start value in the seven-element heat.
Before halftime, the Mustangs almost tied their top program score in the synchronized heat of the pyramid event with an 8.70 final on a 9.50 start value. The team rounded out the half strong with a 9.00 in the open heat on a perfect 10.00 start value.
In the tumbling event, junior base/tumbler
Mariana Ruiz posted a 4.550 on a 7.00 start value in the aerial pass, followed by a 4.775 on a 6.75 start value scored by sophomore base/tumbler
Alise Gasker in the six-element. Finishing the event strong, first-year top/tumbler
Valentina Lumaro added a 6.100 on a 7.25 start value in the open pass.
Managing a team event this season, the Mustangs finalized their score with a 46.13 on an 85.38 start value, totaling up to the final 167.255 decision.
