OWINGS MILLS, Md. –The Stevenson men's beach volleyball team (5-4) earned a 4-1 victory over Tusculum on Friday afternoon to open play at the Stevenson Invitational.
In the top pairing,
Tanner Laukhuff and
RC Getteau dropped both sets, 19-21 and 14-21. The No. 2 duo of
Ryan Harrington and
Kevin Kouchoukos responded with a straight-set win, 21-9 and 21-16.
Jacob Sledz and
Jackson Bones battled through three sets to take the third pairing, 21-19, 17-21, and 16-14. In the No. 4 slot,
Charles Signa and
Finnegan Keon secured the match with set scores of 21-18 and 21-13.
To cap off the victory,
JD Sarmuksnis and
Adam DeRubertis claimed the fifth pairing, 21-16 and 21-19.
In exhibition play,
Ben Grove and
Daniel Sledz added an additional win, taking both sets 21-11.
The Mustangs will prepare for day two of the Stevenson Invitational to face Wingate at 9 a.m. and Liberty at 3 p.m. The matched will be held on Mustang Beach.
