TAVARES, Fla. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball is headed back to Hickory Point Beach this Saturday and Sunday, April 13th and 14th, for the 2024 AVCA Small College Beach Championships.
The Mustangs are no stranger to the tournament, as they took home the title in 2022. Having just concluded their regular season with this past weekend's Stevenson Invitational, the Mustangs sit at 20-8 overall.
As the second-seeded team, the Mustangs drew No. 6 Huntingdon College and No. 7 East Texas Baptist University in Saturday's pool play. This will mark Stevenson and Huntingdon's third meeting this season after the Mustangs defeated the Hawks 3-2 and 4-1 in the regular season. Stevenson did not face East Texas Baptist this season but defeated the Tigers 5-0 in a 2023 matchup at Berry College.
Berry is among the seven teams to earn a national tournament berth along with familiar foes University of Lynchburg and Hendrix College. The final team enlisted in the tournament is top-seeded University of Mary Hardin-Baylor out of Belton, Texas.
Stevenson is slated to face Huntington on Saturday at 8 a.m. on Courts D1-D5 and will follow with their match against East Texas Baptist on those same courts at 12:20 p.m. If a third matchup is needed for pool order, the Mustangs will meet once more with the Hendrix Warriors at 3:35 p.m. on courts C1-C5. Stevenson and defending champion Hendrix finished the regular season tied 1-1 with a pair of 3-2 finishes.
