MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball traveled to Mount Berry, Georgia today for their first two matches of the Division III Only Tournament at Briggs Beach. The Mustangs would topple Huntingdon 4-1 in their first match before battling to the very last point in match two against Hendrix for a 3-2 victory over the defending national champions.

Stevenson's Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja were the only pairing to span three sets, coming from behind to win their second set 21-17 and third 17-15 as the second flight.

The third flight of Taylor Jones and Nicolette Fuglestad had an impressive defensive showing, allowing just nine and eight points against in their two sets. Fourth flight Giulia Viglietta and Miranda Mueck finished in two sets as well, going 21-13 in both. Olivia Simon and Sam Simmers rounded out the win for the Mustangs in two sets, going 21-18 and 21-17.

The Mustangs and Hawks met earlier in the season, resulting in a 3-2 win in favor of Stevenson. Stevenson and Hendrix also met once earlier this season with the Warriors claiming a 3-2 win. The Mustangs would reverse the score today against the reigning national champions, earning a sweep on the day.

The first two flights went to the Hendrix, but Stevenson's third, fourth, and fifth flights rebounded to lift the Mustangs over the Warriors. Taylor Jones and Nicolette Fuglestad battled it in three sets, winning the first 21-10 and the third 15-11. Giulia Viglietta and Miranda Mueck posted a quicker victory, winning their sets 21-9 and 21-14. Olivia Simon and Sam
Simmers also required only two sets, going 21-9 and 21-17.

The pair of victories put the Mustangs at 14-5 on the season. To round out their tournament trip, the Mustangs will face the hosting Berry College Knights at 9 a.m. In their first meeting this season, Stevenson bested Berry 3-2 at the Badger Beach Bash.
