MOBILE, Ala. - Stevenson Women's Beach Volleyball took on day two of the Gulf Shores Tournament, playing three matches to round out the trip. Stevenson would pick up 3-2 wins against both Huntingdon and Berry (Ga.), but fell to a strong Division II Spring Hill team.
Stevenson's wins in their opening match of the day against Huntingdon came from fourth flight Giulia Viglietta and Miranda Mueck, fifth flight Olivia Simon and Sam Simmers, and second flight Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja to clinch. Simmers and Simon went three sets, winning the first and third 21-12 and 15-12 to earn the win. Clouser/Naja won 23-21 and 21-16 while Viglietta/Mueck earned decisive victories of 21-7 and 21-10.
Caleigh Bernota and Sima Kahoussi battled back from a first set loss to win 21-17, but ultimately fell by six points in the third set.
In the 3-2 win over Berry, Maddie Clouser and Hannah Naja clinched once more as the second flight, going three sets against the Knights' Boston/Schmit. Clouser/Naja won their first set 21-18 and battled to a 16-14 third set.
Viglietta and Mueck also played three sets, winning the first 21-14 before a 15-11 third set in their favor. Taylor Jones and Nicolette Fuglestad won in straight sets of 21-19 and 21-10.
After this weekend, the Mustangs stand at 6-3 overall. Their next matches are set for March 10th, 12th, 14th, and 16th in Florida for spring break.
